In the Time of Laughing Leaves There is an old indian legend in the area near the Columbia river in southeast Washington state. During the Fall, when the trees drop their leaves and the dry air makes them crackle under foot, they say you can hear the forest laughing in the distance. It is a magic time for the people of this land - in the time of laughing leaves. Art Messer December 2, 2007 |
